Join us on 14th December for this iconic race. This is a tough multi-terrain race, held in the depths of winter and set in the beautiful Mortimer Forest on the Shropshire/Herefordshire border, nearby to the historic market town of Ludlow.
There are two courses to choose from, 10(ish) miles / 1600(ish) feet ascent, and 4(ish) mile / 900(ish) feet ascent. It’s rough and off-road, of course measurement are ish.
The 10 mile route is a challenging course, it includes the infamous Big Dippers, but after a stiff climb up to the top of High Vinnalls you are treated to a wonderful downhill finish, with views across the Welsh Marches, as far as the Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons. Expect mud, hills and wonderful trails.
The shorter 4 mile course omits the Big Dippers and sticks to larger tracks, but still includes a trip up High Vinnalls with its far reaching views and cracking descent.
New for 2025, there will be the option to purchase a ceramic medallion, bespoke to this year’s event and hand made by local artist Pretender to the Throne who produces our podium and category prizes. These are limited to just 200.
A huge thank you to Moor Park School, Forestry England and Monstay Farm for their support and allowing access on their land.
This race will be permitted by ARC. Permit number ARC/25/0685
No dogs allowed, humans only.
